Painted Dreams farm is on 40 acres. The farm's perimeter fencing and cross fencing has no-climb fence with cedar post. The barn sits on top of a hill, quite a distance from FM391. We are proud of our farm and have worked very hard to make our facility convenient for our breeding process and safe for the horses. By no means is it the "fanciest" facility around, but it is nice and safe.

We know how important it is to horse owners to have a safe facility for their horses. When customers have visited our facility, they always express how nice our facility is and what a comfort it is to them to leave their mare or mare and foal in such a safe environment.

Our barn consists of 6 stalls, a concrete wash area, hay storage area, tack & feed room and an office:

  • 2 - 12 x 12 Stalls
  • 3 - 12 x 24 Stalls
  • 1 - 12 x 24 Stall with outside run (the outside run is paneled).
  • Wash area has side by side stocks, one side for an adult horse and the other side for a foal. Hot & cold water availability for cleaning.
  • The barn has no-climb fence around the perimeter, which is an additional safety precaution.

Besides having a nice facility, we have EXCELLENT mare care. We believe in treating outside mares and foals as if they were our own.

  • Stalls are cleaned daily
  • Water is checked and cleaned twice a day.
  • Our feeding schedule is twice a day, early morning and early evening. The feedings include 14% horse pellets and coastal hay. However, if you prefer to bring your own grain, you are more than welcome. We will discount the mare care cost.
  • Stalled mares are turned out into a round pen daily.

Stallion Pens

Painted Dreams stallions each have their own home outside of the barn which consists of:

  • A covered shelter.
  • 100 ft. x 200 ft. paddock
  • An adjoining pasture behind paddock
  • The pen and pasture has no-climb fence and electrical wire around the perimeter.

Our live breeding process:

  • Once the mare is ready to breed. We will breed the mare every other day until she stops accepting the stallion.
  • We always tease the mare with the stallion before we breed.
  • If the mare is teasing, the mare and stallion are taken separately to our wash area to be cleaned before each breeding. The mare's tail will be wrapped.
  • The mare and stallion will be walked to the breeding wall to be hand bred. The mare handler takes the mare to the wall first and then the stallion handler walks the stallion up for the initial introduction.
  • If the mare has a foal by her side, the foal remains in the pen beside the wall. This keeps the foal safe, but mom and foal can still see each other.
